An important point of Padua’s logistics and the complex system of distribution of fresh fruit and vegetables. A strategic set place overlooking the countries of the East, a driving force behind the export of agricultural and food products. An ISO 9001 and Vision 2000 certified centre, which houses 31 wholesaler companies, among which Dal Bello SIFE stands out, which concentrates the work of 8500 people if we consider the entire sector.
It is the MAAP, the Agri-Food Market of Padua.
Winning in handling, strong in trade, complete in services, is the payoff of this important reality all of Padua.
Few people know, however, that before the headquarters of Corso Stati Uniti, the old fruit and vegetable market of the city was located in a completely different place and that it was only in 1985, that the city of Padua laid the foundation stone of the future MAAP.
Completed in 1993, the market began to operate on July 11 of that year. The operators recall the transfer of activities in the fruit and vegetable market, which took place at night.
A 5-kilometre-long column of trolleys, pulled by forklifts, that has crossed the city and is affectionately remembered as the night of the long trolleys.
MAAP remains a point of reference for European logistics.
